The City of Literature Trust thrives on collaborative relationships with other organisations. We work closely with the literary organisations in Scotland, as well as many of the more general cultural bodies, but this section is dedicated to links that we have formed with other literary initiatives across the world.
Goethe-Institut

The Goethe-Institut is an international organisation with hundreds of branches across the globe, including a centre in Glasgow, and is primarily concerned with championing the German language and Germany’s culture. They run events and literary discussions, and in 2005 the City of Literature Trust collaborated with them to present a conference on Writing Europe, exploring the cultural variations between writers from across Europe.
International Cities of Refuge Network

Edinburgh is working with ICORN (International Cities of Refuge Network) to confirm Edinburgh's status as Scotland's first City of Refuge. ICORN is based in Stavanger in Norway, and is funded in part by the Norwegian Government. The Network includes numerous cities across Europe, and recently Norwich was confirmed as the first such city in the UK.
The Writers' House, Australia
http://www.varuna.com.au/
In June 2006 City of Literature Trust arranged for two authors, established writer Dilys Rose and emergent writer Ewan Morrison, to stay at the famous Writers' House at Varuna, in Australia's Blue Mountains. With three weeks to concentrate on their work in the Australian outback, both came home inspired. You can read more about their experience in our Projects section, and we hope to be able to continue this relationship with the Writers' House in the future.
