Call for applications: Bucheon City of Literature Residency
A unique opportunity for writers, translators, and comic/graphic novel creators
Our friends at Bucheon City of Literature are pleased to open applications for their 2025 Residency Programme, inviting literary artists from across the UNESCO Cities of Literature network to spend four weeks immersed in Bucheon’s vibrant cultural life.
This residency offers time and space for creative work, while fostering connections with Korean readers and writers.
What the Residency Offers
- Return airfare and transportation to and from the airport
- One month’s accommodation at the Bucheon Residency
- A dedicated coordinator to support your stay
- Engagement with Bucheon’s literary and cultural community
Who Can Apply
Bucheon City of Literature welcomes applications from:
- Writers, poets, translators, and comic/graphic novelists affiliated with a UNESCO City of Literature (outside South Korea)
- Creators with at least one published work
- Individuals proficient in English or Korean
- Those interested in Korean culture and literary exchange
What’s Expected
Residents will:
- Devote around 80% of their time to personal creative work
- Participate in local events, exchanges, or cultural activities (approx. 20% of their time)
- Attend at least one literary or cultural event in Korea
- Produce a short creative piece inspired by Bucheon or Korean life (text or illustrated), to be used for promotional purposes by Bucheon City of Literature
