(English below)

Thèid an leabhar ùr againn, A’ Gàidhlig ann an Dùn Èideann Tro na Linntean / Gaelic in Edinburgh Through the Centuries, a chur air bhog aig an Ionad Bayes aig Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann, 47 Potterrow, aig 6f air Dimàirt 8 Sultain. Tha sinn an dòchas gun tèid agaibh air a bhith an làthair còmhla rinn.

Tha an leabhar stèidhichte air ceithir taisbeanaidhean air diofar thaobhan de Ghàidhlig ann an Dùn Èideann a chaidh a chumail aig Leabharlann Nàiseanta na h-Alba ann an 2025 mar phàirt den tachartas Edinburgh 900. Am measg nan cuspairean tha eachdraidh agus deamografaigs (an t-Ollamh Wilson McLeod agus an t-Ollamh Rob Dunbar), ainmean-àite (an Dr Jake King), litreachas (an Dr Michel Byrne) agus foghlam (Donna MacIomhair, Karen Reid agus Mona Wilson). Fhuair na tachartasan seo agus am foillseachadh taic bho thabhartas fialaidh bho Chomhairle Baile Dhùn Èideann.

Aig an tachartas cuir air bhog, cluinnidh sinn bho ùghdaran nan caibideilean, agus seinnidh Tawana Maramba òrain Ghàidhlig co-cheangailte ri Dùn Èideann.

Bidh an leabhar ri fhaighinn aig prìs shònraichte (£5 seach £7). Tha e ri fhaighinn cuideachd tron làrach-lìn againn, www.ionaddhuneideann.org

Ma tha sibh ag iarraidh tighinn dhan tachartas, nach dèan sibh clàradh an seo:

Tha sinn an dòchas ur faicinn ann!

Our new book A’ Ghàidhlig ann an Dùn Èideann Tro na Linntean / Gaelic in Edinburgh Through the Centuries will be launched at the Bayes Centre at Edinburgh University, 47 Potterrow, at 6pm on Tuesday 8 September. We hope you will be able to join us at the event.

The book is based on four presentations concerning different aspects of Gaelic in Edinburgh held at the National Library of Scotland in 2025 as part of the Edinburgh 900 celebrations. Topics include history and demography (Professor Wilson McLeod and Professor Rob Dunbar), place-names (Dr Jake King), literature (Dr Michel Byrne) and education (Donna MacIver, Karen Reid and Mona Wilson). These events and the publication were supported by a generous grant from the City of Edinburgh Council.

At the launch event, we will hear from the chapter authors, and Tawana Maramba will sing Gaelic songs connected to Edinburgh.

The book will be available for sale at a special price of £5 (normally £7). It is also available via our website, www.ionaddhuneideann.org
