About being selected, Nick commentated:
'I'm thrilled to have the chance to return to China to work on my new novel and am immensely grateful to the Nanjing City of Literature for this great opportunity.'
Nick Holdstock's second novel Quarantine appeared in 2022. He is the author of three non-fiction books about China and currently lives in Edinburgh.
About the Nanjing Residency

Nanjing UNESCO City of Literature offered six residency opportunities to writers, poets and translators. Applications were accepted from writers who have a strong connection with a City of Literature, such as Edinburgh. We work closely with Nanjing and through our International Residency Programme, the 42 Cities of Literature work together to create new opportunities for writers from our cities.

The residency will run from 16 to 28 November 2023.
