Edinburgh City of Literature welcomes Scotland-based consultant as new Board Trustee, Deanna Wolf.
In 2004, a group of book lovers came up with the idea of approaching UNESCO to form a global network of creative cities. Edinburgh became the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature, and, since the whole thing was our idea to begin with, it fell to us to design the criteria for other cities to join the Creative Cities network and help guide them in future. We realised the way ahead would take work, time, and organisation. And so the Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust was formed, with the aim to use creativity to promote an enlightened approach to literature in Edinburgh and across the globe. Deanna is joining Edinburgh City of Literature at a pivotal and significant time, as its celebrating 20 years of being designated UNESCO City of Literature.
Deanna, starting her professional life as a children’s and reference librarian in public libraries, has since become a trust fundraiser in a variety of settings and is now a senior consultant with a well-known fundraising agency. Having lived and worked in her native Canada and New York City (where she worked and was in the book selection committees of one of the largest US public libraries), she has called Scotland and the UK home for more than 20 years. A love of history, costume and textiles finds her trolling the shelves for historical dress patterns she uses for her involvement in an educational living history group. (With a side passion for all things Star Wars).
We look forward to working with Deanna in the coming future!
