The City of Literature Trust is excited to welcome a new Trustee to its Board as it looks towards the future of Edinburgh as a City of Literature and a new chapter for the Trust.
Emily McCorkell will be joining the Board at an exciting time as the Trust concludes its 20 years anniversary celebrations, and looking to the next 20 years.
The appointment was made after a public call produced a list of applicants with expertise in finance.

'I am delighted to be joining the Board of the Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust. I feel lucky to have grown up in this beautiful, pioneering city, long a haven for writers and those who love literature. I look forward to contributing to the wonderful initiatives planned over the coming years, both internationally and on the streets of Edinburgh.'
Emily McCorkell is a Chartered Financial Analyst and spent twelve years in Financial Services as an investment manager. She was brought up in Edinburgh, and has a degree in English from the University of St Andrews. She is now working on her first novel, a thriller set in 1950s Scotland. Emily joined the Board in March 2025.
Ruth Plowden, Chair of the City of Literature Trust said: “The Board members are delighted that Emily McCorkell has been appointed to join Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature as a trustee. With her financial expertise and love of writing, and literature, Emily will make a valuable contribution to our work. We look forward to working closely with her in the years to come.”
It will be an exciting new chapter.
