The National Centre for Writing in Norwich have announced their list of writers for the ILX 10 Programme.
Ten writers have been selected by the National Centre for Writing in Norwich City of Literature as part of its International Literature Exchange (ILX) 10 programme. Of the ten emerging writing talent from the UK Cities of Literature network (that includes Edinburgh, Exeter, Manchester, Nottingham and Norwich), two selected are based here in Edinburgh.
ILX 10 is a subsidiary of their programme International Literature Exchange (ILX) 24, which focuses on the promotion of UK-based writers who will be showcased both in the UK and overseas. Poet Marjorie Lotfi and novelist Lynsey May have been selected from Edinburgh as part of the programme. The list of writers will be shared with festivals, publishers, educators, and activists around the world, and promoted through media channels in the UK.
In 2004, Edinburgh became the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature and founding city in the Creative City Network. The original concept was devised in Edinburgh by the City of Literature Trust’s founding members, taken to UNESCO and enshrined in their creative city programme. There are now 53 UNESCO Cities of Literature all dedicated to using literature to shape and develop their city, and to develop international projects, and collaborations; Norwich being one of which. This network has grown to become a great platform for residencies, commissions and promotion.
