The City of Literature Trust is proud to announce that Ruth Plowden has been appointed as its new Chair
Ruth Plowden said: ‘I’m extremely pleased to be joining the Trust at such an important time in its development and when so many exciting announcements are imminent. I am looking forward to leading the organisation and helping it to achieve its bold new vision.’
Ruth Plowden has over 25 years of experience of working with non-profit organisations; she was a Trustee of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Breast Cancer Now and the Lamp of Lothian Trust, was part of the team which successfully secured the John Murray Archive for the National Library of Scotland and was a founding director of the Lammermuir Festival. A former journalist, she is now working on her first book.
Ali Bowden, Director of the City of Literature Trust said: ‘We are delighted that Ruth is joining our team. With over 15 years of community engagement and international development work under its belt, the Trust is about to embark on a large-scale project which will transform how we engage with literature here in Scotland. The Literature House project is ambitious, and it’s fantastic to have someone as creative, experienced and committed as Ruth to spearhead our work.’
